<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Call to Order</span></strong></p>

<p>The general membership meeting of the Irvington School PTA was called to order in the library at 6:30 PM on Monday, March 5, 2012 by Co-Presidents Amy McFeeters-Krone and Hether Dunn.  Proper notice was given to all members through the school calendar, the school’s newsletter, In Touch, and was posted on the doors of the school.  (Attachment A)  A quorum of members as stated in the standing rules was present.  A sign-in sheet is attached to these minutes.  (Attachment B)</p>

<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Approval of Minutes</span></strong><strong></strong></p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p>Chelle Casey-Stevenson, Secretary, presented minutes of the General Meeting held on February 6, 2012.  The minutes were approved as written by the membership.</p>

<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Principal’s Update</span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"> </span></strong></p>
<p>Dogs on school grounds:</p>
<p>Two PPS employees from facilities joined us to discuss dogs on the school grounds.  The district has a new procedure in place for dealing with dogs on school grounds.  All schools will be provided with permanent signage reading, “Leased dogs permitted during non school hours.  Please clean up after your pets.”  PPS wants staff informed on how to deal with situations involving dogs on grounds during school hours and leaves it up to each individual school to decide what is appropriate.  Multnomah Country is available to deal with dog problems and the school resource officer is also available.  PPS considers school hours whenever children are at the school.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Principal McCall has informed staff that there are no dogs allowed on Irvington School grounds during school hours, leashed or not.  Staff has been informed of her decision and they have a plan in place to deal with dogs on grounds during school hours.  Academics are Mrs. McCall’s number one priority followed closely by student safety.  She considers dogs on grounds a safety concern and is concerned that a large part of our grounds are not being utilized by students because of how dog owners have abused these areas over the past few years.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Other items of interest:</p>
<p>-Facilities informed us that the gas company will be covering part of the bill to replace the boiler.</p>
<p>-Brett Hutwagner will no longer be with Irvington and she has resigned from PPS.  Staff was informed of this today and it will be announced to the students soon.  A temporary hire is in place through the end of the year and a replacement will be hired at the end of the school year.</p>

<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Treasurer’s Update</span></strong></p>

<p>Not a lot of activity this past month.  There will be a lot of movement once the auction takes place.  By the April meeting we will have the numbers from the auction and know where we stand for the next school year.</p>

<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Auction Update</span></strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The auction is Friday.  Donations are still welcome, but won’t make it into the catalog.  Please buy tickets.  There are currently 325 tickets taken and the auction committee would like to see this around 400.  Staff was informed today about tickets and staff has requested that they be informed about tickets sooner in the future.</p>

<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Scrip </span></strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Scrip sales are off for the school year.  There has been less advertising this year and the sales reflect this.</p>

<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Additional Business</span></strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The gym needs a new PA system.  Hether and Amy are asking that the PTA approve buying a new PA system for $943.  The group voted to purchase a new PA system.</p>

<p>Meeting was adjourned at 8:05 pm.</p>
