TAG (Talented and Gifted)

Talented and Gifted (TAG) education serves the purpose of providing instruction that challenges high-end learners and meets each student’s learning needs. Through TAG, advanced instruction is provided in the classroom setting for gifted students. In compliance with the Oregon TAG mandate for gifted education, the PPS TAG program focuses on meeting the student’s instructional level and rate of learning every day in the classroom across the curriculum. Nominations for TAG are accepted in the fall of each school year. TAG testing takes place in the early spring. Announcements regarding TAG are posted on the TAG bulletin board near the office and in the In Touch newsletter.

Irvington is expanding our enrichment program for TAG students. Classroom teachers are being trained in additional differentiation strategies, TAG students will have the option of individualized pacing through the Accelerated Math and Accelerated Reading programs, and we will be holding TAG Family nights where parents will learn strategies to use at home with their children. Questions? Contact Irvington’s TAG Coordinator, Kathleen Ellwood, kellwood@pps.net.
